I wanted to post this yesterday, but I’ve been in the throes of a flare up and things have not been good. But I wanted to talk about some new books I got this week.
Red Flag by Evelyne Sperring
After the controversial death of my last client, my dream of being a sports publicist is left hanging by a thread. The sole opportunity for redemption is a role no one else wants because the client is the infamous Nixon Armas. I should be grateful to work with the motorbike racing champion. The rugged model. The stubborn, arrogant fool on the brink of losing his job.
It’s just for one year while I rebuild my reputation. One year.
But the more I try to control his image, the more he pushes back. Our clashes spark a complicated enemies-with-benefits scenario that could shatter his new image and my career. For good.
If people look too closely at how I got here, it’s over.
I’ll do anything to salvage my career and protect Nix. Even if it means confronting the truth and changing my life forever.
I feel like I’m entering my dark romance era, so this sports romance will be the perfect starter. I haven’t heard of this author before, but if I like Red Flag I will definitely jump into her backlist.
Thrum by Meg Smitherman
I initially saw this book on Instagram reels and immediately knew I needed it. Space horror romance is a niche I can get into, considering how much I love space horror. I can’t wait to read this.
Ami awakes from years in stasis to find she’s at the edges of deep space, and the only surviving member of her crew. Utterly alone and unable to contact Earth, she sends out a distress beacon, not expecting a response. When she gets one from a being who calls himself Dorian, she’s welcomed onto his ship as he offers his assistance in any way he can. But nothing on Dorian’s ship is as it seems. And as Ami tries to navigate the maze of hallways and first contact with this alien being, a deep hum begins to resonate, haunting her, as if the ship itself is whispering to her.
A Curse of Breath and Blood by K.W. Foster
This is pitched as “A Court of Thorns and Roses” meets “Six of Crows”, and while I don’t care for ACOTAR, I care deeply for Six of Crows. The premise sounds cool, and I need an Indie pub book for r/fantasy bingo, so I hope this is good.
A queen turned mercenary. A long-lost love. An ancient evil reborn.
With her home kingdom destroyed and her family considered dead, Aelia Springborn makes a living, using her abilities to break minds for anyone with enough coin. Content to live a life in the shadows, her world is turned upside down when her former lover, Caiden Stormweaver, tracks her down at the edge of the world with a proposition she can’t refuse…. help him thwart her former husband, King Gideon, from obtaining the deadly army of the Alder King.
With a chasm of hurt between them, the pair strikes a deal; once their mission is complete, Aelia will wipe his memories of their relationship, releasing them both from their tumultuous past.
Bound by magic and aided by friends, Caiden and Aelia set off on a journey to save the continent from ultimate destruction. However, as their mission progresses, Aelia and Caiden find themselves reigniting the flames of their past.
But in Moriana, breaking a bargain is deadly.

I'm adding the first two books to my TBR! I'm so happy we have the same taste!^^
Right now, When In December by @kendramase is on my TBR. I can't wait to get the book when it comes out later this month!
Six of Crows is literally my favorite book. I’m always so cautious whenever a new book comes out advertising that they’re similar to it. 😅
